Civil War: Yankees and Rebels

Experience the most epic battlefields of the Civil War- Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg and Gettysburg. Relive Pickett’s Charge, cross Burnside’s Bridge, climb Marye’s Heights, and traverse Devil’s Den. New this year: visit Chancellorsville, site of the last major Confederate victory and the place where Stonewall Jackson was mortally wounded. Also, discover the Defenses of Washington, DC including Forts Washington, Ward, and Stevens! Tour the National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, VA to see real Civil War weaponry up close. Discover Civil War artifacts at the American History Museum. Witness the final drama of the War at Ford’s Theater. Also, experience lesser known battlefields like Monocacy River and Ox Hill

Finally, spend a day in the life of a Civil War soldier learning how to march in formation, dress in uniform, set up a campfire, and participate in a water gun battle re-enactment also using a water balloon launcher to better understand Civil War-era Artillery. Battlefields, museums, forts and other historic sites will be divided up in chronological order over the course of two unique weeks, from the first major battle to President Lincoln’s assassination. Ages: Rising 4th - Rising 8th Graders

Fees: $395 for 1 session. $725 for both sessions.

Notes: Usual dress is regular summer attire including good shoes for walking battlefields. Space is limited and camps session do fill up. To inquire about a waitlist or if more spots will be available email the camp director Jimmy Callahan

Campers outside of the recommended age range may be admitted on a case by case basis. Please contact Jimmy Callahan to discuss.

Campers should bring a bag lunch, a water bottle, and a hat.
