Ingredients for a Boy's Journey towards Manhood

Fostering Your Child’s Intellectual Life

April 30th, 2016, 8:00-10:00pm

Children grow up to become like their parents. So as parents, both your direct and indirect actions shape the intellectual culture of your home, and ultimately the formation of your children. This lecture will cover not only the direct ways in which you can foster a love of reading and learning in your home, but also habits that parents should form (as well as habits they should avoid) which indirectly influence their child’s formation.

Join us this Saturday, April 30th, at 8:00pm, for the final event in this year’s Parent Lecture Series, “Fostering Your Child’s Intellectual Life.” Speaking at this lecture will be The Heights Head of Upper School, Mr. Michael Moynihan, joined by freshman core and classics teacher, Mr. Gerard Babendreier alongside his wife.

You’ll Learn:

  • 3 broad types of parental habits, and which you should avoid
  • Authors and books that especially foster the life of the mind
  • Ways to directly organize and cultivate an intellectual culture in your home
  • How to prepare your child to continue these habits through high school and into college
