(The Service Club)
Heights men, fully alive in their love of our neighbor and service to Our Lord, participate in numerous charitable activities. Heights students (and fathers) are encouraged to sign up for any or several of the activities listed below.

The club meets on Tuesdays at 1:00 pm in Rm 34. All students are welcome to participate.
Some of our service initiatives this year include:
Feed the Hungry
- Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive – 2019 Dates to be announced. We collect your extra canned and dry goods (no perishables!) for donation to the Little Sisters of the Poor in time for Thanksgiving. This year we have set a goal of two pounds per student. Canned hams, beans, vegetables and other foods are best. Dry beans, and pasta are also excellent. Place donations in the bins outside of the 2nd floor chapel entrance or deliver to Mr. Reed’s office. Once we have collected all the donations we will package them and deliver them to the sisters in time for Thanksgiving.
- Catholic Charities SHARE Warehouse Food Distribution – On Saturday, 18 May from 5:00 am to 11:00 am. We depart The Heights at 5:00 am and go to the distribution warehouse in Landover and assist with the distribution of bulk foods. Dad’s are also welcome! Ability to handle 20 – 40 lb. containers is helpful! Wear heavy-work layered clothing (no open-toed shoes!) and bring a lunch. More information >>here<<. Shelter the Homeless
- Spring Service Projects – Rescheduled!! Now on Saturday, 18 May from 9:00 am. to 2:00 pm. We will be helping with grounds maintenance at St. Joseph’s House. We will be repairing the hardscape, including the installation of a flagstone walk, cleaning the flower beds, removing large intrusive vines and doing plenty of other necessary work. Clothe the Naked
- Lost and Found Clothing – The “Lost and Found” workshop is located in the modular building just west of the gym; enter on the west side (towards the new log cabin), and is open on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Usable clothing lost by our students and not reclaimed is collected, professionally washed and bagged for donation to homeless and disaster relief organizations. We need helping hands to sort and package the clothing on Tuesdays after school in the Lost and Found workshop. This is an excellent opportunity for middle and lower school students. Unclaimed clothing left more than two weeks is packaged for donation to relief organizations.
- Winter Coat Drive – Students help collect new winter coats and deliver them to needy children in support of the Annual Christmas Around the World Celebration.
Alms for the Poor
- Donations – We always accept donations of funds to help us defray costs incurred by the club. Please contact us via email to email@example.com if you would like to make a contribution.
- Used Blazer Sales – We accept donations of used school blazers and collect abandoned blazers. Those not reclaimed are professionally cleaned and are made available to students for $13.00. Our next coat sale is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, 11 and 12 April from 08:00 – 09:00 in the gym lobby. These funds help cover program expenses or are donated to charitable organizations in the DC area.
Visit the Sick
- Elder Care Visits – Students visit elderly residents at a local Retirement Nursing Home most Wednesdays after school. Sign Up Here
